TerraZoo Rheinberg

Rheinberg

There are many animals housed at TerraZoo Rheinberg that you would hardly want to encounter in the wild. Unless you are looking for danger. Because many of the 400 or so reptiles, amphibians, arthropods and fish are poisonous or can be dangerous to you in other ways. However, in the glass terrariums, which can be viewed from at least three sides, they offer a fascinating and sometimes colorful sight. Some glow bright yellow or grass green. While you may not recognize others at first glance because they can adapt so well to their natural environment. But whether it's a Nile crocodile, tarantula or rattlesnake - the zoo's inhabitants are always impressive.

However, the TerraZoo Rheinberg does not see itself primarily as a leisure facility with exotic appeal, but rather as an inter-school place of learning and wants to play its part in protecting endangered species. For example, there are guided tours and a wide range of educational activities especially for children and young people to introduce them to the world of reptiles.

The Sontra rescue center is also connected to the TerraZoo. Animals that have been handed in or confiscated by private individuals, illegally traded or tortured are cared for here, including large monitor lizards, giant snakes, venomous snakes and armored lizards.
