Sternenpark Eifel National Park

Kall

The star park in the Eifel National Park offers a breathtaking view of the night sky. The low lighting and sparse population minimise light pollution so that the Milky Way and the constellations of the solar system are clearly visible. Star tours, offered by Sternen Guides and the astronomy workshop ‘Stars without Borders’, allow visitors to experience the fascination of the starry night sky in the Eifel.

Nocturnal animals are foraging for food while visitors enjoy the view of the multitude of twinkling stars. The Eifel National Park offers a clear view of the Milky Way and the many distant stars and planets, which are often not visible in other places due to light pollution. The park has been designated a star park by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) since 2019. The aim is to protect nocturnal nature from artificial light and to preserve and promote biodiversity.

The ‘Stars without Borders’ astronomy workshop regularly organises a variety of activities to experience the starry sky. Specially trained star guides offer star tours that can be booked online. Star hosts have specialised in the needs of stargazers. Depending on the time of year, different constellations can be seen in the sky - so impressive!
