The exhibition "Marc Chagall - Visual Languages" sheds light on the fascinating connection between art and literature in the work of an exceptional artist who is often referred to as a "painter-poet". With over 100 paintings, drawings and prints, the show demonstrates how Chagall integrates pictorial elements of his Yiddish mother tongue into his art. Literary works by great authors such as Nicolai Gogol and La Fontaine also had a significant influence on his work.

Marc Chagall, who is known for his colorful and dreamlike compositions, wrote his autobiography "My Life" in his early 30s, which he illustrated himself. He received important commissions such as the illustration of the Bible, whereby he obtained a Yiddish translation from New York in order to create an authentic pictorial world. The exhibition offers art fans a rare opportunity to discover Chagall's creative fusion of word and image in previously unseen works. Among the highlights on display are color sketches that are being presented to the public for the first time.
