The exhibition "Women Artists! From Monjé to Münter" at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf presents 30 powerful women who created important works in the 19th and early 20th centuries despite considerable obstacles. As women were not allowed to study at the renowned Düsseldorf Art Academy at the time, they needed private means and extraordinary determination to pursue their goals.

Guests can expect not only an exciting rediscovery of historical works of art, including works by Elisabeth Jerichau-Baumann, Marie Wiegmann and Paula Monjé. They can also take a critical look at how social and institutional structures continue to shape the visibility of female artists today. With this impressive exhibition, the Kunstpalast provides a long overdue "second look" at a largely forgotten generation.
