The baroque castle overlooking the old town of Bad Berleburg has been inhabited by the same family for 750 years. Berleburg Castle is one of the meeting places of the high nobility, and not just the German nobility. The sister of the Danish Queen, Princess Benedikte, resides here and receives her visitors. Sometimes the doors are open to everyone: The Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg family regularly opens its "living room" for castle concerts with artists from all over the world. Sometimes very intimate by candlelight, sometimes with a large audience in the castle courtyard - either way, the warm welcome makes you feel a little bit ennobled yourself. The International Music Festival under the patronage of Her Royal Highness is a regular highlight in the cultural calendar. A guest of princes!
A guest of the Princely Family
Even outside the festival weeks and when there are no open-air concerts in the palace courtyard, the family opens up its home. Guided tours of the palace with its banqueting halls, guest rooms, a large hall and a chapel allow you to experience the special atmosphere of history and tradition that prevails within the walls. The castle park with its centuries-old trees is also well worth a visit.
